BOOM

Has anyone noticed that I always post stuff on Sundays? Not Saturday or Friday but on Sunday. Which means I spend all of Sunday working on stuff, which kinda sorta goes against my faith.
But I think the Man upstairs won't mind much.
So anyhoo, lately I've really been trying to do something edgy which is so not my art style yet I love edgy art. It just wasn't happening for me for so long I just gave up and then out of no where this concept pops in my head and it just worked.
So yeah, its pretty simple. Flat contrasting colors, no shading or highlights or anything. It just is what it is. I call it Imaginary Warfare, for obvious reasons. I'm not a fan of violence, definetly not a fan of COD (so much blood!), but I'm not a radical preacher of peace either. I believe the only reason one should ever go to war is in defense but even so you can't have war without death and sacrifice and its ultimately a devastating sort of experience. I feel like I'm stating the obvious but its true.
Now that the thirt for edgyiness has left me you can expect some of my more usual stuff like girls with long hair and corsets  or fairies and flowers.

Yanely

First Post of 2011 Boo-yah :)

I'm a member on DeviantArt, a website entirely dedicated to art with some of the greatest artist I've ever seen. Honestly looking at some of the art on there makes me feel like trash sometimes but I always tell myself that I'll be as good as them one day, if not better. That's the wonderful thing about art and most things in life. You can get better at just about anything. All it takes is the drive and the dedication. And art is something that you constantly improve in, you never stop getting better. It's impossible!
But back to main point, so I'm a member on DA and also part of a Disney group. The Disney group was holding a contest for Disney shorts, including Fantasia. At first I had decided to do Sorcerer Mickey, a wonderful chance to work with a classic and an oppurtunity to practice lighting. Then I reread the post about the contest and thought it would be better to do something else. I knew for sure it would be Fantasia, something more like classic art rather than cartoons. So I chose the dance of the sugar plum fairy.
Look up the video on youtube if you haven't seen it because it some the most beautiful animation ever. I love flowers and fairies and it was just so gorgeous that I was so happy I had changed my mind about doing the Sorcerer's Apprentice.
This was a really fun piece to work with, drawing her exaggerated porpotions was awesome. It kinda gave me a chance to step out of my usual boundaries, because anatomy is NOT the easiest part about drawing. And then the colors, and the lighting, just so much fun. I wish everything I did was so enjoyable. This just felt so right, but alas I did not win the contest. What can you do? There'll be more and I'll get better as I've stated earlier so no worries.

Yours truly,
Yanely
